Winter Found Us

(None of these pictures and videos are in order, but they did all happen at some point this week, so that’s close enough.)

We brought winter down with us.

This storm hit too close to us living in North Dakota. The kids were so confused on the general panic surrounding it.

ICEMAGEDDON!!! It was really hard to take seriously, but we were good little preppers and rushed HEB with the rest of the state, just in case.

The aftermath 😂 It WAS cold though! And slippery. We legit had to put on snow clothes, which is a big deal for here. Everything was canceled, including church on Sunday and school on Monday. We live on a super steep hill, so the real danger was black ice. The rest of the weekend was just spent getting stuff done in our house so that was kind of nice.

Tripp was a happy guy to be back in the cold.

The cats were not. Temporarily allowed “inside” to not freeze.

Home Church, because real church was canceled. Patton did a really good job teaching the lesson. Callahan just likes speaking in a microphone.

A corner in the girl’s room they must be proud of because there’s a random picture of it on my phone. We’ve let pretty much everyone decorate their own rooms with as little adult input as possible.

Callahan watched Finding Nemo for the first time this week, apparently. It’s hard to remember that she was like, two when the rest of our kids were watching Disney movies, so she doesn’t remember a lot of them. It’s been fun to see them for the first time again through her eyes.

Kennedy is into playdoh art.

Callahan made a new friend and a new club at school this week. They call themselves The Rattling Reptiles and it has something to do with desert animals and the books Wings of Fire? I don’t know, but she’s excited.

Bennett and Patton are making BANK tutoring Kennedy. Her little anxious math self reminds me so much of me at her age…and every age. Poor thing. I’m glad she has her big brothers. They’ve both offered to tutor her for free, but I need to keep up quality control.

Most of my week looked like this. Lots of painting, but we wrapped up the guest house, ceiling and all!

Tripp is not allowed inside the guest house, but he was never very far from it while I was in there. He’s a good boy.

Both Madi and Dot are settling right into being Texas cats. For the first couple of days neither one of them even came out of the trees. They had never seen big trees before and they love them.

Bennett started off the week with a migraine. He stayed home from school on Monday and I’m not kidding, he’s actually asleep in this picture.
