Our kid is THAT kid.

There are two nurserys in our ward; one for the little guys just starting out, and one for the older group who are almost ready for Sunbeams. Obviously, Bennett is in the first of these. My good friend here is the nursery leader of Bennett's group, and after church on Sunday she approached me.

Friend: "Hey, would you mind if we moved Bennett up to the older kids' nursery class?"
Me: "Sure. How come?"
Friend: "Well, he's just pretty advanced for our group. He is one of the only kids who actually tries to do the hand actions to songs, and his verbal skills are way above the other guys in there. We just think it would be good for him to be with the older kids."
Me (bursting with motherly pride): "OK, no problem. I bet he would like that."
Friend (somewhat hesitantly): "Ya, well...that...and he's just really a handful..."
Me (with motherly pride completely replaced by sudden dejection): "Oh."

My friend went on to tell me that Bennett wasn't necessarily doing anything wrong. In fact, he was an obedient, active participant in everything they did. He was just also an active participant in everything they were not doing, too, and since there are a lot of other kids in the class who needed attention as well, Bennett's busyness made it hard to keep tabs on him.

Bennett will be joining his new nursery class next Sunday.

So the next time you are walking down the isle in a grocery store and see a mother desperately chasing her son (who only has one shoe on) as he giggles with shear delight...or you are at a funeral luncheon and spot a toddler eating handfuls of chocolate cake out of the serving pan...or you are siting in church and hear loud applause and shouts of "YAAAAAY!!" after a very spiritual musical number...then you can think of Bennett.

Because THAT kid, is our kid.
And we wouldn't have it any other way :)
