Getting Out

This was the first week I felt like we just lived here instead of frantically trying to figure life out.

On Monday the kids didn’t have school, so we drove out to a nature park with a with a picnic lunch from chipotle and hiked around.

Scaring all the turtles off of their rocks.

A bridge? A pipe? We aren’t sure.

That night our sister-in-law and her kids came to visit. They live in San Antonio and it is so great to finally be close to some family! Also, after visiting us, they promptly moved to South Dakota this Wednesday. So…that was fun for a little bit.

The girls had SO much fun with their cousins! They tried for a sleepover but it was a school night and their moms are lame. This picture is totally staged by the girls to show us what could have been.

We asked Patton to take a picture. Stinker.

Swimming in the freezing cold pool and then warming up in the bathtub.

Bennetts truck (the one that died on us in the car wash. Remember that?) continued to have problems until one day after school Matt had to tow him home 30 minutes because it would no longer start. It’s at a shop now and Bennett is driving a rental. Of course, we just paid this off. That’s how it always goes.

The elementary school had a student-led school tour this week and it was so fun to see the girl’s classrooms and meet their teachers. This is the rooftop garden where Callahan is growing plants with her gardening club. Kennedy is in Pickleball club. (Can you tell Callie was in a mood this night? Nine is a fun age 😅)

Showing me around.

This weekend Matt and I met up with our good friends from North Dakota who had moved to San Antonio a few years before we did. It was so fun to see them again and go to dinner to catch up!

Before dinner we wandered around Gruene, which is a cute little old Texan town (like a Jackson Hole) right by us.

This is how Matt looks every time I ask him to take a selfie with me. Pain in his eyes. Always.

Patton was invited to go to Top Golf on Saturday with our next-door neighbor, who is just a year older than him. He said they had a lot of fun and ate a lot of pizza.

Playing a game of Settlers of Catan in Bennett’s room, which he decorated himself. The theme in here is “Teenage Boy.” Kennedy crashed out before the game ended because this game is very polarizing (🥴)

I tried my hand at playing Minecraft with Patton. I think it was too late at night for me to take it very seriously, but we had fun.
