It’s March

The beginning of the week brought beautiful weather that brought beautiful flowers. Mountain laurels are popping up all over our property and it smells amazing.

Kennedy is going to do a volleyball class after school this month so we’ve been practicing a lot.

Spending time in a greenhouse. Her happy place.

Callahan found a bundle of frog eggs in our friend’s pond and asked if she could keep it.

The tadpoles have since been moved to a bucket. It should be a pretty fun science experiment to watch over the next few weeks. Callie is so excited to be a mother.

Friday was a big day. The girls dressed up like their favorite book characters. Kennedy was Mary, from Little House on the Prairie. Callahan was Sundew, from the Wings of Fire series.

I participated in Read Across Comal, where I got to read a book to Callahan’s third grade class. It felt good to be back in a school again. I miss it!

After reading, we were invited to a parent cookout. Lunch with Callahan.

Lunch with Kennedy. Both girls requested McDonald’s, but I ate their school lunch because they’re always complaining about how bad it is and I wanted to see for myself. It was literally one of the best hamburgers I’ve ever eaten in my life. The french fries were terrible though. I’ll give them that.

Tripp.

That night, Matt and I attended a gala celebrating an awesome program in the community where kids read with therapy dogs. The girls’ mirror is so much better for taking selfies than mine. Plus, you also get a nice view of Callahan’s most current fort behind me.

We clean up OK. It was a fun night.

Patton took a picture of the view from the top of our hill. Can you see the girl’s school? You can also see how the weather got a lot wetter at the end of the week.

The boys are getting pretty good at hooking and hauling trailers. This is also the one and only picture I have of Bennett from the whole week. He’s a busy guy so isn’t pictured much, but he took the SAT on Wednesday and does a lot of good things with his life. Also, he’s a teenage boy, so being in pictures is not his favorite right now. Just know he’s still alive.

We were supposed to go camping this weekend to kick off Spring Break, but the weather had other plans. Everyone vetoed my outdoor ideas and we had a campfire in our front yard instead.

It was probably a lot more comfortable in my bed than it was going to be in a cold, wet tent with a burn ban (no campfires) so I guess I’m ok with being vetoed. We’ll try again later.
