March Maddness Vs. Easter!

So it has been awhile, but here is a tummy update...it's getting bigger. I think I might waddle a little when I walk. :) Other than that there is not much to report. I have had no contractions (that I know of) but my doctor says I am dialated to a one already. We also did an ultrasound about a week ago and Bennett is thriving! It looks like I have been able to control his weight and size pretty well with my Diabetic Diet, and it should just be a normal delivery. It's just a little scary to realize that this is actually happening!!

The other night Matt and I were a little bored so we decided to have a little fun with our current resources. However, we couldn't quite agree on if we should honor March Maddness with a basketball, or Easter with an egg...so we ended up doing both!

This is my view of the artist at work. Matt was very concentrated on making my tummy look perfect!

Here is the "Wilson" brand basketball side, with just a little bit of the "s" and the "on" showing. :)

And here is the Easter egg side! It looks much better than any Easter egg I have ever created in real life.

From the front the whole thing looked a little weird...but it was really fun to do! And I'm sure Bennett appreciated all the extra attention. :)

Our HOME!!!

OK, you asked to see it, and here it is! Our brand new home!! We are signing the official papers Tuesday (Feb. 24) and then we will start moving all our stuff from the barn in San Antonio to actual rooms in a house for the first time in almost a year! Yay!

Now, because I am so technically advanced, I think I put all these pictures in out of order. So to get the full affect from the front of the house to the back, feel free to scroll down now and then work your way back up to here.

Anyway, keep your hands and arms inside at all times, and enjoy the tour! :)

Our backyard and back porch! We will be having many a BBQ here!

Our Backyard!!! I LOVE this yard! It will be completely sodded by Tuesday when we sign the papers. I am so excited about this!!
The big ol' master closet. Again, Matt is building me basket shelves and shoe racks and all sorts of exciting things in here.
OK, this is the last picture of the master bathroom, I promise! For some reason there were a lot of them.
The master bathtub. Matt added the colored tile around the top and he is going to put a hanging light in above. Sometimes it pays to be married to a builder. :)
The Master Bathroom. The bathtub and shower are to the left, behind the door.

The master bedroom from the doorway. The master bath and closet are to the left (you can't see them in this photo.)
The kitchen and living room looking from where the kitchen table will go. The master bedroom door is just to the right of this picture. (Off of the entry hall.)
A corner of Bennett's room. It is surprisingly hard to get a decent picture of an entire room at the same time.
Matt standing "Super Man Style" in the guest bedroom. (This is YOUR room, whoever is reading this!!)
The big closet in the study. Other than this, it just kind of looks like an empty room.
The guest bathroom...I know, so exciting!!
The hallway to the three back bedrooms and guest bathroom. (The bathroom is the door that has the light on inside it. The study is after that, Matt is standing in the guest bedroom, and little Bennett's room is around the corner where you can't really see it.
The kitchen looking from the spot where our table will go. I LOVE IT!!
My big, beautiful kitchen looking from the living room. (Isn't Matt an excellent model?)
The Family Room looking from the entry hall. You can't tell in the pictures, but the carpet in this house is SOOO comfy! (This was very important to me, since I prefer to spend most of my time laying on the floor.)
Matt's favorite room in the house! We have big plans for this garage...big plans. :) This is also my laundry room. Because it is so warm in Texas there is no problem with this.
This is the entry hall looking towards the front door. The door that is open on the left is to the garage, and the one next to that is a coat closet.

Me, Matt, and my tummy in our front yard. Both the front and back yards will be landscaped and sodded by the time we close on Tuesday!

Yes...I am a diabetic :)

Haha! Well I guess I forgot to tell most of the world about this recent development, but I have developed gestational diabetes! Isn't life just full of little twists and turns?! My Dr. scheduled me for one of those sugar tests a few weeks ago (just to be safe) and the results came back positive. Now I get to eat a very strict diet, on a very strict schedule, prick my fingers and take glucose readings 7 times a day, and generally have a great time!
It's really not as bad as it sounds though, it is just annoying as heck. Matt and I have a deal that as soon as this baby gets here (and I mean immediately after delivery) he will bring me a LARGE BOX of ice cream snickers...which is something I have been craving and not allowed to eat for the last couple of weeks. Maybe a couple of Wendy's baked potatoes too. I am also vowing to become a vegetarian after this diet that forces me to eat meat about 12 times a day. :)
For those who are worried about the baby, don't be. He is just as safe and healthy as ever. Gestational diabetes really only affects his size (he can get too big) so they are tracking that carefully. Other than that though, all is well in the whomb.
So anyway, sorry if I forgot to mention this to anybody. It has been an interesting experience for me. I promise I will try to keep you all posted on any new exciting changes involving my body in the upcoming months! Eat protein!

"HAPPY GROUND HOG DAY"
(BACK WITH A VENGEANCE)

Groundhog Day is an annual holiday celebrated on Feburary 2 in the United States and Canada on which folklore tells if a ground hog emerges from its burrow and fails to see its shadow because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end. If on the other hand, it is sunny and the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.

Modern customs of the holiday involve celebrations where early morning festivals are held to watch the groundhog emerging from its burrow. Social events in which food is served, speeches are made. German is the offical language spoken at the event, and those who speak English pay a penalty, usually in the form of a nickel, dime or quarter, per word spoken, put into a bowl in the center of the table

The largest Groundhog Day celebration is held in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania where crowds as high as 40,000 have gathered to celebrate the holiday since at least 1886.

Now a lot of people people have seen or heard of the absolutly hilarious movie called "Groundhog Day". After a long day of work I come home to my sweet wife who has an exciting Family Home Evening activity planned for us.

We watched the movie to the left and made the cutest little groundhogs out of cupcakes, marshmallows, mini nilla wafers and of course chocolate frosting. Haley is just cute like that.

-Here are some of the ingredients-

-Final result (Haley is gonna be a great mom)-

-These are my new holsters that Wayne has been teaching me to make. I have to wrap my pistols in plastic so as the wet leather molds to the guns that don't rust (Haley bakes cake and I make gun holsters, we have such a symbiotic relationship)-

-And of course both my angels, and Haley brandishing her new toy (Diabetic thinga magiger) she is sure growing, just 2 months away-

"TIN STAR RANCH"

Well last weekend was the big shoot for Wayne and I. We had to be in Fredricksburg (which is about an hour and half from our house) by 0830 or we couldn't shoot. I had to go into work at Ft Sam to administer a P.T. test to a bunch of new soldiers at 0430 so my day started early but ended fantastic.

Wayne's name is "Iron Sights" and mine is the "Pecos Kid"

This is what the knock down targets look like

-Haley was a great supporter and little Bennett slept through the whole thing-
Now the second order of business, the house. We are probably 2 weeks from signing papers and closing on our first new home. We are pretty dang excited. Here is a little video of the house, enjoy.

-This is the living room looking from the hall way-

-Matt in the Kitchen-

-No this little beauty has an interesting story. This rocker belonged to a friends Grandma who passed away a few years ago. Matt used go over to her house and would do little chores and she would make the most wonderful, homemade, Mexican food. The family was moving to Florida and had to get rid of it. Matt picked it up, refinished it and Mary and Haley cut and stitched the cushions together. It's pretty cute though.-

Some Photos...because I am good at this Blog thing

Here's some amazing pictures of the last couple of weeks...in no particular order because I am still new at this whole blog thing. Enjoy!
We found this sign in Oklahoma and I made Matt stop to take a picture. Haha! He loves me!

My whole Hazard family. I love these people! :)

Me and Matt at the Dallas temple. We were here for the wedding of some of our friends' and figured out how to use the delay time on our camera. We are high tech geniuses. :)

Me and my dad at my college graduation December 12, 2008. He got to dress up too, since he is a professor at BYU-Idaho. It was cool to get to march in with him and shake his hand.

Happpiness... :)

Today I woke up in the arms of my sweet husband.

This might seem like such a little thing, but it is a little thing that has happened too few times in the last seven months. Matt and I have officially been married for 1 year, 4 months, and 10 days as of today, but of that time we have spent approximately 4 1/2 months of it apart.

Over this time we celebrated the 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and my birthday apart.
I went back to school and finished my degree in Communications as a "single" college student. We began building a house in Texas, which I have yet to see. I also went to several maternity visits and through morning sick days without a husband. Matt found out we were having a boy over his cell phone.

But we are together again now, and I love it. We have spent time with just the two of us, driving, shopping, and talking about our new litttle boy. We have eaten, slept, and sat together. We have held hands. :)

It is amazing how much I love this person, and it is amazing that I don't have to call him on the phone to tell him that! I am really, and truly, happy, and I know that Heavenly Father has blessed me much more than I deserve. I thank him everyday.

Also, thank you so much to all those people who have loved and supported me during these sometimes very hard times. My wonderful family, who made me feel like I had never left home in the first place. Who fed me and clothed me, and helped me through the rough patches. Who loved me unconditionally.

To Matt's family, who did the same and made me feel like I was in a place I had always known, even though I had never been there before. Who called and updated me while I was away, and who are so lovingly welcoming us both back into their home.

To my fantastic friends, who listened to me complain but never let me wallow too long in my own self-pity. Who took me with them to play, and who cheered me on in all I was doing.

These last few months were probably the hardest thing I have ever done...and I am so lucky. I am so blessed. Thank you so much. Thank you.

-Haley
